John E. Muir is a seasoned trial attorney who concentrates his practice in civil litigation, condemnation law, medical malpractice defense and general trial advocacy. He additionally practices in the areas of general municipal law and driving under the influence of alcohol defense.

Mr. Muir received his bachelor’s degree from Albright College in 1990 and his law degree from Widener University School of Law in 1993. He is admitted to practice in all courts of Pennsylvania, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals, Third Circuit. He is an active member of the Berks County and Pennsylvania Bar Association. He is past Chairman of the Municipal Law Section and current Chairman of the Civil Litigation Section of the Berks County Bar Association. He has served as a lecturer for the Berks County Bar Association seminars and the Berks County Bench Bar Conference.

Prior to joining Roland & Schlegel, P.C., Mr. Muir served as a Berks County Assistant District Attorney from 1993 through 1997. Mr. Muir presently serves as the Solicitor to the Womelsdorf Sewer Authority and the Oley Township Municipal Authority. He has served as special counsel to numerous municipalities and school districts throughout Berks County on litigation and condemnation matters. He is presently representing property owners in several counties on condemnation matters.

Mr. Muir is active in the community and has held various leadership roles with the YMCA of Reading and Berks County. He will serve as Chairman of the Board of the YMCA of Reading and Berks County in 2008. He additionally has assisted various volunteer fire companies in Berks County in merger discussions. He has been appointed by both Spring Township and Lower Heidelberg Township to serve on their fire service committees. He is an officer with the Endlich Law Club, a founding member of the Justice William Strong American Inns of Court and a member of the St. Thomas More Society.
